VIEU Council meeting: 17 May The first VIEU Council meeting for 2008 will be held on Saturday 17 May at the VIEU Conference Centre, Ground Floor, 120 Clarendon Street, Southbank.
Each elected sub-branch rep (or a proxy from their own sub-branch) is entitled to attend Council meetings, so please put this date in your diary. The
Keynote Speaker will be Australian Education Union Victorian Branch
President, Mary Bluett, who will speak to the campaign in the
government sector. Mary’s insights will be of significant interest to
Catholic members whose pay claims will be determined by this
settlement, and to members in independent schools, where for the most
part, independent school employers use the government rates to
determine their relativities. A detailed update on the Catholic Wages and Conditions Campaign will be given and the Independent Council will consider the Independent schools salaries and conditions general claim 2008. Below are the Agenda for the four Councils and a faxback sheet which must be completed and returned to VIEU by close of business Wednesday 14 May 2008 on fax 03 9254 1865.
Remember that attendance at VIEU Council is extremely important as it provides Sub-Branch Reps with an opportunity to contribute to VIEU’s democratic processes, interact with other Reps, and also connect to the broader union movement.
We look forward to seeing you there.
