![]() Catholic Campaign Update: 8 May 2008 - Non-Teaching Staff
Non-teaching members will no doubt have taken note of the announcement last Monday of a settlement to the dispute between the AEU, representing state teachers, and the government. At this stage, the final detail of the actual wages result is being fine tuned, but the parameters are: A top of the automatic scale rate of $75500 Graduate teachers commencing at $51184 Percentage increases at other levels, with one-off payments of $1000-$1500. In the government sector, non-teaching staff agreements are negotiated separately from those of teachers. Those negotiations have not been completed, but we expect them to proceed more quickly now that the teachers' result is known. VIEU negotiates for School Officers and School Services Officers. We have been meeting regularly with Catholic employers about our claim for improved pay and conditions for all teaching and non-teaching staff. Their response has been that they are waiting for a result in the Government sector. They now have that result and we expect negotiations to proceed more speedily and effectively, including improvements for non-teaching staff. As always, VIEU will inform all members of any developments as they occur, and invite you to continue your involvement with VIEU to improve the pay and conditions of non-teaching staff. <<back |
