Agreement was reached this morning on a wages deal for Victorian Government schools.

The 3-year Agreement will deliver a wage increase of $10,000 to teachers at the top of the (automatic) incremental scale, bringing them into line with teachers in NSW and making graduate teachers the highest paid in the country. This will have a direct effect on both bargaining claims and outcomes for members in independent schools.

More detail on the outcome will be made available on the VIEU website later today.

It is important that your Rep or sub-branch proxy attends VIEU Councils on Saturday 17 May.

A full briefing on the AEU deal will be given and Independent Council will consider bargaining options for the future. This wage outcome represents considerable improvement on the Government's original offer and stands as testament to what union members can achieve together.
