Update: 16 July 2008

VIEU Committee of Management (COM) met last night and endorsed 'in principle' a package negotiated for our next Certified Agreement subject to resolution of some largely technical issues. COM authorised the Secretary to convene a meeting of VIEU Councils on Saturday 26 July. At these Councils Reps can consider the 'proposed package' prior to taking it back to their sub-branches for votes at each workplace.

It had earlier indicated that a special Reps meeting might be held on the evening of Wednesday 23 July. However, it was felt that rescheduling the August Council meetings to Saturday 26 July, despite the short notice, would maximise the participation of Reps from the outer suburbs and country Victoria. I know that you will make every effort to come but if you cannot, another VIEU member from your sub-branch may attend as your Proxy. As usual, the meeting will be held in the VIEU Conference Centre, commencing at 9:30 am and concluding with lunch. Please confirm your attendance via the attached pro-forma no later than Wednesday 23 July.

In the next few days Reps will be sent a detailed briefing of the key elements of the package.
