Working with students with special needs

This seminar will focus on the ways in which teacher aides, integration aides and other related staff can effectively support students with disabilities in the classroom. It will examine how to encourage independence in learning, motivation of poor learners and the development of confidence and capability in students.

Strength and Resilience

Laboratory Technician Seminar

The position of Laboratory Technician is a specialised role, with its own particular issues and challenges. This seminar will provide an opportunity for participants to discuss issues related to legal liability and occupational health and safety in their workplace.

The IQ, EQ, SQ Model:
Balancing our intellectual, emotional and social competencies

Today we know that IQ is only part of what defines a human being. Factors related to EQ (Emotional Quality) and SQ (Social Quality), are crucial to development of the whole person and long-term success. This fast-paced, exciting workshop with Dr Trinidad Hunt, focuses on the practical application of the IQ, EQ, SQ Model in bringing greater balance and effectiveness to our lives. Participants will have an opportunity to engage in a series of activities for understanding and balancing each of the domains.

Legal Liability

When do you owe a duty of care? What is reasonable and how careful should you be? this seminar will focus on important legal issues for all education support staff. The session will focus on what is 'duty of care' and what you can do to ensure reasobnable behaviour under a set of circumstances. Positive student interaction

Integration aides and teacherr aides play a crucial part in the equitable delivery of quality education to students. Though much of the work of an aide is performed in collaboration with teachers, this role involves unique responsibilities and the fostering of specialised relationships with students, often over years. In this seminar, Dr Trinidad Hunt will explore the educational opportunities - as well as the challenges - of classroom interactions between students, aides and teachers.
