Independent Education Union welcomes new VIT Chair
The Independent Education Union Victoria Tasmania welcomes the appointment of a new Chair of the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
Don Paproth has a wealth of experience in the education sector, and the IEU looks forward to working constructively with Mr Paproth and the new Council to address issues of ongoing concern, especially in relation to administrative difficulties with teacher registration and deregistration, and the extensive backlog of unresolved teacher investigations.
The IEU also congratulates other Council members on their selection. In particular, we welcome the election of IEU members Leonie Sheehy from St Joseph’s Primary School Boronia and Dr Ian Johnson from Korowa Anglican Girls School, who are both dedicated professionals highly committed to representing the interests of teachers.
The IEU Victoria Tasmania looks forward to working with the new VIT Council to ensure that teaching in Victoria is effectively and fairly regulated.
