Student Teacher Conference

This Conference is aimed at meeting the needs of final year student teachers. The Conference consists of a keynote presentation specifically designed for students ready to embark on their first teaching position.

Participants will be provided with an overview of their rights in the workplace, including a discussion on wages and conditions of work. A panel of principals will talk about what they look for when appointing beginning teachers, and students will have an opportunity to ask questions about how they can optimise their opportunity of successfully gaining employment in the non-government sector.

Participants will be provided with an invaluable opportunity to meet more informally with principals to talk about their schools and about job applications. The conference will also provide CV writing and interview skills training.

Effective classroom management

Effective classroom management is a skill that all teachers need — a skill we all have to continue working on because the changing nature of the environment we work in.

This is a chance to participate in a professional development session with a dynamic presenter currently working with teachers across Victoria.

For student teachers this is a chance to hear about really practical and effective techniques you can use on rounds and in the classroom when you get a job.
