Put Yourself in their Shoes
Over 60 VIEU members participated in VIEU's letterboxing campaign on the union's theme of "Put Yourself in Their Shoes" in the seats of Corangamite (25 September) and LaTrobe (14 October). These seats were selected in support of the ACTU Your Rights at Work campaign. On letterboxing days, members enjoyed a bbq and a pep talk from Deb James, General Secretary, before taking to the streets to complete a set of around 200 houses each. VIEU members in Gippsland also turned out in force, letter-boxing in their local area in support of the campaign.
VIEU also staffed two polling booths in Corangamite and one in LaTrobe on election day, handing out material for the Your Rights at Work campaign. VIEU members in Gippsland also helped out on polling booths on election day.
A special thanks to everyone who helped out, both in letterboxing and staffing the polling booths on election day and to all those who put up Your Rights at Work corflutes in their front gardens. It just goes to show that we can effect change!
