VIEU Training 2010

VIEU is proud to present an innovative and contemporary training program that is designed to meet a broad range of member needs.

Rep training continues to be a key focus of our training program and will be held in a range of regional areas as well as in Melbourne. We have consistent feedback from reps advising that this training is invaluable. VIEU encourages all reps who have not yet attended to make the most of the training on offer this year.

The VIEU seminar program has been an outstanding success in previous years. As a result we have expanded the number and variety of seminars on offer. The seminar program is comprehensive, providing specialist seminars in areas as diverse as leadership, contemporary educational issues and matters pertaining to school officers/assistants. All seminars are delivered by experts in their field, providing an exciting opportunity to attend innovative training that is unique to VIEU.

VIEU will continue to focus on providing best practice Occupational Health and Safety training designed specifically for the non-government sector. Our 5-day OHS courses will run again this year, complemented by refresher courses for experienced reps. Our OHS training for principals and workplace managers has been received with great acclaim in the past and will also be held again.

Conferences will include the Beginning Teachers' Conference, the School Officer Conference, the Environment Conference and the VIEU OHS Conference. Registration forms will be sent to schools approximately six weeks prior to each conference. We encourage you to enrol early as these conferences are enormously popular and we had significant waiting lists for some of them last year.

All VIEU reps in Catholic schools continue to have the right to one day's paid training leave and VIEU will pay replacement costs for reps from Independent schools to attend training.
